Hands On Math

Hands On Math

This blog is awesome. It’s run by a math instructor who wants kids to learn real applications of math. It’s chock full of videos with creative ways to show students that math really is everywhere. If only this had been around when I was a kid.

Jeremiah Dyke has also recently published his first math book called Do Natural Numbers Ever Wonder What’s Unnatural? Lulu is selling the paperback for $9.99 and the digital version for $4.99. Here’s the description:

Do Natural Numbers Ever Wonder What’s Unnatural? Journey with the wonderful number one as he travels throughout his Real Number universe to meet a diverse set of Real Number creatures. From the beginnings of his little Natural Number farm though Whole Number Forest, Integer Island, Rational Road and The Land of Irrational, our wonderful number one seeks knowledge. The story couples cute art and alliteration to create an easy to follow story for students learning the Real Number System. Educators may decide to use this wonderful guide as either supplementary or primary material for both inner subject or cross discipline learning.

How cool does that sound?
