What You’ll Need
Our curriculum is free, but you’ll need some supplies to get started (and you probably already have all of these):
A computer
Internet connection
Adobe® Reader (Make sure you that have the latest version.)
Basic school supplies
A student (This is probably the most expensive item on the list, but we hear that they’re worth the money.)
Although it is by no means necessary to use Home Free School, we also recommend a Kindle eReader (three types available: 6″ Wi-Fi with or without 3G and 9.7″ DX with Wi-Fi+Free 3G). Most of the books used by our curriculum can either be downloaded for free from the Kindle Store or transferred to the device as .pdf files from Project Gutenberg o. It’s a bit of an investment up front, but will eventually pay for itself and then some in saved paper and ink. You can also download Kindle reading apps to your other devices (e.g., iPhone).
Alternative to Ads
Our site has ads because it is the only way can offer a curriculum at no charge to the user. However, if you would like to use Home Free School’s curriculum, but are put-off by the ads, we will be soon be offering a low-cost subscription that will give you access to the material without the potential distraction of ads.
Other Recommendations
To play the educational games on our site, you will need Adobe® Flash Player. Our website is also best viewed with Mozilla® Firefox.
